Our Story
Crossroads is a non-denominational, independent church that was started in Lexington by Glen Schneiders on November 15, 1987. Prior to the first service, five months of extensive research was conducted via telephone canvassing with over 11,000 phone calls made. It was discovered that people were looking for a low key, no pressure environment and were turned off by "churchy" atmospheres. A large segment of individuals were found to be disenchanted with church, but not with God. Crossroads evolved to fill the growing need for a non-traditional church, where searching people could get some answers to spiritual questions.
The first service was held at Shoney's Inn on Richmond Road with 176 present. Crossroads merged with Lakeview Christian Church and assumed ownership of their building on Arbor Court in 1988. Additional staff members were added and as Crossroads grew, the need for additional space was apparent.
Today, Crossroads inhabits a 76,000 square foot facility with state of the art technology, athletic facilities and classroom accommodations. There are 3 services each weekend: Saturday at 5:30 p.m., Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
